TTN Status

The network was established at the end of 2007as an intensive follow up of the resolutions of the 2nd EATLF in October in Kampala. It has got an elected board of directors and a constitution that has been passed by all members.

Admin structure

TTN has an annual general meeting composed of all TTN members coming from the different member telecentres. The Board of directors has five members and 1/3 of the members should be women and are elected on a three years basis. The secretariat is composed of the general secretary is appointed by Board of directors on contract. Secretariat is housed by SWOPNET. The Secretariat staff are appointed by the board.

Main objective

Is to have a hub for knowledge sharing among telecentre staff and see what services to offer

Activities

Not yet started any activities as there is no proper funding. But the Government’s Tanzania regulation authority and commission for science and technology all want to see how we can work together. The network is aiming to cover the whole country and currently working with the government to see that each and every member is represented in the network. The stakeholders is meeting will be called soon after registration is complete.

Financial system

The network does not have a bank account or an independent or lean financial system. Soon after registration the board will open up an account under the names of the network. IICD has already promised a grant worth US$ 20.000 to the network once an independent account is opened up.
