RTN Status
National structure
RTN has been in the formation stage for long. Its structure has been designed to integrate broad based memberships and inclusion as much as possible. Its board is thus composed of persons from government agencies like the Rwanda Information Technology Agency which is a government department, the private sector foundation and telecentre practitioners.
The current network structure comprises of a six man Board of Directors, which is head by a Chairman. Paul Barera, is one of the members of the board and coordinator of the secretariat, which is based at Nyamata Telecentre. He is being assisted by Falcon Godwin.
Registration status
RTN registration is under process;Currently, the network can operate legally but need to complete the process up to the Mistry of Justice.
Telecentre inclusion level and strategy
According to Falcon, the network has a lot of benefits to practitioners. The networks strategy for inclusion is to make participation as broad as possible. For instance the Government’s 12 telecentres are facing sustainability questions and so are those opened earlier by ConnectED and many other stakeholders.
RTN plans to organize the Rwanda telecentre Leaders Forum in March 2008 to bring together people and get a way forward ie how RTN can help solve the problems through services offered and get more members into the network.
Financial management
So far the Network has no financial management system in place. It does not have a bank account or a lean system it depends on for it financial management.
Services offered
No services are offered to telecentres at the moment
Vision
A bridge large national and multinational organization between telecentres and service providers that serves government, interested telecentre support organization and the big telecentre movement.
