Technical Issues
It was agreed that; a support platform for technical collaboration in the region be established. That Ahmed Ndaula, the technical officer at UgaBYTES will ensure that this happens and coordinates the all process. That the appearance of the platform and the things it can do will be resolved in coming technie meetings.
That all national network websites be developed on the same platform as UgaBYTES. That the KenTel website, which is already running on joomla be re-designed using Drupal. The purpose of having websites developed along the same platform, was to allow easy crossing of blogs using the rss feed and also drupal being a user-friendly blogging system. That the process should be through in three months time and Ahmed will communicate any required information and domain costs to the national networks.
Telecentre Academy;
It was resolved; that further discussions on the issue be reffered to the Telecentre academy session in the third day with the following notes;
How will the telecentre academy be integrated into national networks system? What can be done at regional and international level to ensure academy success? Will the academy be free? How do we liaise with local institutions to offer the courses? How will the Curriculum, training and Certification systems look like?
Social enterprise;
It was resolved; that the issue is referred for discussion in the social enterprise sessions. But with the following notes; when developing the portal under social enterprise, can we have content in different languages?
Research and development;
It was resolved that all national networks embark on documenting the current number of telecentres in each country. That the process be completed in three months time. That UgaBYTES aggregate that data for regional purposes. That access to this data be restricted for purpose of financial sustainability to the networks especial for north-south researchers. That a standard template be developed and shared for the purpose.
Staff exchange;
It was resolved; that the issue is referred for discussion in the staff exchange session. But with the following notes; we can have exchange of volunteers and staff at network level and telecentre level. Networks can exchange volunteers at regional and national level.
