BCTN Status


BCTN was established in June 22 2007, during which time a national committee made of 4 persons was established. However, the network has not yet constituted leadership beyond that layer. The national committee comprises of; NKURUNZIZA Jean Paul who is the chairperson, KARORERO Barnabé is the Deputy Chairperson, RUBERINTWARI Guillaume is the Secretary General and NDIZEYE Janvier is the treasurer. Other founder members include; NIYONZIMA Ignace, NSENGIYUMVA Rémy and RUVAKUBUSA Liliane.


Registration


The process is going on but we hopes to be through by end of March. The network will register as a non profit organization. Members include all telecentres and organsiations that have started telecentres


Objectives


Encourage development of telecentres in Burundi Do telecentre work together as a network Create capacity building for telecentre leaders Foster financial sustainability Carry out lobby and advocacy


Operations


Currently the network is hosted at Dririshirahamwe telecentre and Guilame is volunteering to run its day to day operations.


Telecentres


The network has five telecentre initiatives. The 150 call centres that the president announced at the connectivity Africa summit have not yet been incorporated.


BCTN wants to open up a model telecentre in Burundi to demonstrate the richness and the potential telecentres can do in the country’s economy.
